Corie began dancing at the age of 5, studying various forms of dance such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop & Modern. In elementary school she played the role of a singer in the musical John Henry. Throughout Middle and High School Corie studied and performed African Dance, Stepping, and Flag Twirling.
In 2000 Corie became a member of the Urban Contemporary Dance Company where she was blessed enough to perform in some of the largest artistic venues and events in Maryland. She has danced in New York, studying at Broadway Dance Center, and Djoniba Dance Center (Authentic African Dance). While attending the University of Maryland College, Corie has competed in American Smooth and Latin Styles at Dance Sport Competition. Miss Corie has studied and performed Ballet, Modern, Jazz, African, Tap and Ballroom style dancing in College and at art schools such as Peabody Preparatory, and various studios in Baltimore, Maryland. She has studied with world re-known choreographers, which she claims to be phenomenal experiences in her life.
At the age of 20, she started her professional career as a dance instructor, by teaching teens and adults beginner hip hop for the college and after school program's at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church/School. In 2001 Miss Corie attended CCBC where she completed her AA Degree in Human Services (working with people with special needs). As an extension of her education, she is attending UNLV to complete her Bachelors Degree in Dance.
Corie's most recent work has been dancing in shows at Hurrahs Casino, choreographing and dancing in Fremont Street events, performing in the UNLV dance concerts, as an instructor for the Nevada Ballet Theatre Future Dance Program, as an instructor for the All-star-after-school Program, as a Company Manager for a production show, and performing freelance work dancing and modeling here in Nevada.
Corie takes pride in being a true artist with an unconditional love for dancing. She looks forward to all the possibilities which come with the freedom one feels as the soul dances. Kids In Motion is excited to pass on her knowledge and love of dance to future dancers.
